Media Mediation #2 Britney Spears is a gateway drug to every out of control impulse!

Well yes, that title does look true right here! I mean Britney Spears can tame snakes and dance at the same time. Talk about a reptilian brain bomb! For anyone born in the late 80's/early 90's Britney has been an icon we have grown up with and as she made her own life mistake, we all were able to realize how much better we were at winning the game of life.

Britney had fallen to the back of my mind recently, no new kids, no new hair, she was just off living her life somewhere and I think both of us may have been okay with her taking a break from the spotlight. However, on Tuesday September 28th she came flying back into my life with an amazing episode of Glee! The all-Britney episode was pretty flippin' amazing in my own opinion. Maybe this is because of the nostalgia of flash backs to the old Britney Spears with the cast hallucinating they are reenactmenting of some of Britney's best videos.

My personal favorite was Britney S Pierce (Heather Morris) doing Britney's "I'm a Slave for You", I think this could be a break out moment for her career.

Now this vid may have been a little racy for TV, and I am not quiet sure why there are children in it but I think it definitely does Britney justice. This whole episode was an attack on the reptilian brain, splashing in plenty of limbic, bringing the music back from the 90's, everyone I was watching it was very effected. The whole room was smiling for no real reason at all. Of course having "Uncle Jesse"(John Stamos) in the episode didn't hurt them either!

As we watched we were also impressed by how well the cast did in reenacting the videos from the originals, below is the side-by-side version of "Hit Me Baby One More Time" with Britney's original version and Lea Michele's version from the episode. The production techniques were very true to the original, making all real Britney fans probably very pleased (no I do not consider myself a Britney fan). This video came from Perez Hilton's Blog, which is another great example of the entertainment coming from the internet, I could read it for hours and just laugh as he brings different medias together to talk and mock them.

Basically, the show brought back all my old feelings about Britney, and 9 year old me really thought she was pretty cool and successful. Hopefully this episode will be a PR dream for her and she can lose some of the negative press, but who knows, she keeps getting herself into it. Although, the wise words of Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) will haunt me and always remind me "Don't let your own recklessness blind you to the fact that Britney Spears is a genius pop culture provocateur and a gateway drug to every out of control impulse ever created."

For more of her witty one-liners, check her out on Twitter This episode has once again reminded me of how television can be addicting and drug like, because I cannot wait for next weeks episode, "Grilled Cheesus" where Glee seems to be finding some religion. Should be interesting!
